About GYA WHAM BASKETBALL

Gilbert Youth Athletics is excited to announce a youth basketball partnership with WHAM Basketball!

About Gilbert Youth Athletics

Gilbert Youth Athletics is committed to providing top-tier coaching, utilizing elite facilities and focusing on the overall development of each student-athlete. It is our belief that great athletes must develop fundamental skills at a young age which prepares them for a future of success as they progress through high school and college programs.

Athletes have access to some of the best coaches in the state of Arizona who are committed to the development of young athletes, while also spending significant time emphasizing character and sportsmanship. Our slogan of Two Steps Ahead comes from the promise to our community that we provide an unparalleled program in terms of coaching, facilities and competition. Student-athletes will be two steps ahead as they move through their playing career as a result of coaches and program leaders who are relentless in their pursuit of excellence.

With player development being the focus we are able to identify the playing ability of all athletes and begin a structured approach of facilitating growth. This individualized approach is only possible as the result of employing excellent coaches who are committed to the player development process.

Programs will receive championship banners to hang in multipurpose rooms at the conclusion of each season. We will also recognize the team with the best spirit and who exemplifies the greatest sportsmanship. Building pride in the campus and celebrating the success of our student-athletes is important.

About WHAM

Our Philosophy

Wham! Jam! Slam! Youth Basketball Association is a non-profit program offered to the East Valley. Wham is dedicated to support, benefit, promote, supervise, and develop the interest of the sport.

Program Goals

Wham! Jam! Slam! is a grassroots basketball initiative that supports and empowers community and basketball organizations in the East Valley in their efforts to positively influence youth and promote the game of basketball. Wham provides boys and girls, ages 4-18, the chance to learn the important lessons in life, good sportsmanship along with the how-to of hoops.

The goals of the Wham league are to:

  • Teach basketball skills in a progressive and consistent fashion.
  • Expose youth to the values, qualities and skills that are required to succeed in both basketball and the larger game of life.
  • Involve and develop the skills of coaches, volunteers, officials, and parents.
  • Provide a fun atmosphere using lower baskets and smaller balls for younger players.

Our Motto: "I'd Rather Play and Lose...Than Sit on the Bench and Win!!!"
