GPS Enrichment Community Education Riparian Preserve Overnight Camping Trip! Join us for an unforgettable overnight adventure at the Riparian Preserve, hosted by Gilbert Public Schools and Community Education! This exciting trip will offer students and their families the opportunity to camp under the stars while exploring the unique riparian habitats of the preserve. REGISTRATION DEADLINE: March 27th, 2025 @ 12:00AM. Register by March 3rd to receive a commemorative t-shirt. Trip Highlights: April 4th (First Afternoon/Evening): Tent Setup: After the tour, campers will set up tents at the campsite, where chaperones will be grilling dinner. Guided Tour: Experience the Riparian Habitats tour: Walk through the cottonwood and mesquite forests while learning about the importance of riparian habitats and observing local wildlife such as water birds, songbirds, dragonflies, and turtles. Stargazing at Rotary Centennial Observatory: Enjoy an amazing evening of stargazing, and explore real meteorite pieces, as well as a closer look at the stars through the Gilbert Rotary Centennial Observatory (Weather Permitting). Campfire and S'mores: End the evening by the campfire, making S'mores before heading to bed. April 5th (Morning): Breakfast: Enjoy a breakfast before heading back to camp to pack up. Choice of either Fishing with Arizona Game & Fish or Bird Watching with Desert Rivers Audubon Society Fishing with Arizona Game & Fish or : Try your luck fishing at one of the preserve's ponds. Fishing gear will be provided, and fishing licenses are required for participants over 9 years old. (Licenses can be obtained online by CLICKING HERE) Bird Watching with Desert Rivers Audubon Society (limited to first 15 participates): Enjoy watching the many species of birds that inhabit the Preserve! Important Details: Registration Fee: $200.00 per family (Limit of 4 Participates per tent). Ages: 8+ T-Shirts: Participates that register prior to March 3rd will receive a commemorative t-shirt. Tent Requirements: Participants must provide their own tents, and each tent is limited to four people to ensure ample space. Meals Provided: Dinner of campers choice of hot dogs or hamburgers, with S' mores around the campfire for dessert! Chaperone Requirement: A parent must accompany each child. No more than three campers per tent. Rules & Regulations: No Pets: Please leave pets at home.
